When it comes to exterminating pests, not everyone knows how to eliminate ants in the house. It appears as if these small creatures have numerous ways of getting in to the house; crevices in the ceiling, holes in walls, basement and attic, floor and foundation.
Among the types of ants that get into your home are carpenter, black and sugar ants. So, how do you get rid of these ants and ensure that they never set their feet in your home?
Prevention is better that Cure
And so they say, prevention is the best cure. However, one of the most common mistakes that people make is that they look for ways out, only after the problem has occurred. But it is wise to prevent the appearance of an issue because it’s not hard at all.
To prevent ants from infesting your home, take the following into account;
- Keep your home clean
- Ensure that your home is always clean, especially the kitchen area, since ants love sources of food. Clean the furniture surface and cover attracting materials tightly. Sweep the floor after every meal, even small particles can attract the ants.
- Cover foods that you don’t store in the fridge
- Don’t leave dirty dishes in the sink- clean all of them
- Take your trash out of the house everyday
Top natural ants repellents
If you are unable to find the ants nest, sprinkle a small amount of cayenne paper at the spot where the ants enter your house- this is an effective natural repellent.
Another option is to blend citrus peelings and water in a blender or food processor. Lemons peelings would work better than citrus peelings. However, you can use lemon in a different way. Squeeze some lemon juice and mix it with water and then use a spray bottle to spray places infested with the ants.
